Choose tools for five marketing jobs

Compare self-hosted newsletter, analytics, link, survey and scheduling tools with their setup requirements.

Self-hosting marketing software puts its setup and maintenance on your server. Start with one job and its documented requirements before moving the rest of your workflow. [1][2][3][4][5]

Start a newsletter with listmonk

The listmonk docs require PostgreSQL and provide a Compose file. Download it into a dedicated folder and customize the configuration before starting it. [1]

bash
curl -LO https://github.com/knadh/listmonk/raw/master/docker-compose.yml

After reviewing that file:

bash
docker compose up -d

You should see the admin setup at localhost:9000, per the installation guide. [1]

Choose an Umami installation

Umami documents source, Docker Compose and prebuilt-image options. Its source installation needs a PostgreSQL connection in DATABASE_URL. Change the initial admin password after the first login. [2]

Prepare an Ubuntu server for Formbricks

The Formbricks setup guide targets Ubuntu and installs its dependencies, including Docker and PostgreSQL. Use the linked guide to check the server requirements before running its installer. [4]

Configure Postiz before starting it

The Postiz docs begin with this repository. [5]

bash
git clone https://github.com/gitroomhq/postiz-docker-compose

Open the cloned folder, configure the Compose variables, then run the documented start command from that folder. [5]

bash
docker compose up

You should see the frontend at localhost:4007 unless you changed that setting. Configure the required social-platform apps before trying to schedule posts. [5]
