Connect Claude Code to five useful MCP tools

Choose a server for repository work, browser checks, library docs, error reports or workspace notes.

Published · 6 sources

MCP lets Claude Code read and act on connected services. Add a server for a task you actually do, such as checking an issue or reading a browser page. The Claude Code documentation explains installation, scopes and authentication. [1]

Choose the service you need

  1. GitHub: work with repository files, issues and pull requests. Start with the official server's setup and tool permissions. [2]
  2. Playwright: interact with a browser using page accessibility information. Check its browser setup and supported tools. [3]
  3. Context7: retrieve library documentation and code examples. Follow the current client installation instructions. [4]
  4. Sentry: investigate errors, performance and issue triage. Connect the organization or project you need. [5]
  5. Notion: find, read and update workspace information. Follow its hosted MCP connection and authorization guide. [6]

Connect one server first

Sentry documents this Claude Code command. Replace the organization and project placeholders with your own slugs. Sentry recommends project scoping where possible. [5]

bash
claude mcp add --transport http sentry https://mcp.sentry.dev/mcp/{organizationSlug}/{projectSlug}

Inside Claude Code, open the server panel: [1]

text
/mcp

Use it to inspect the connection and authenticate servers that require OAuth. Complete the browser sign-in before asking Claude to read the service. [1]

Check access before adding more

Start with a read-only task, such as inspecting one issue. Review the returned item against the service itself before relying on it. Choose only the accounts and workspaces that the task needs.

Follow each provider's setup instructions; a local browser server and a hosted account integration have different requirements. Keep server credentials out of shared configuration files. Claude Code's documentation covers project approval and configuration scopes. [1]
