Choose a model around the work you need done, then choose a client that supports your account. These are the six models covered in the carousel, with links to their providers' descriptions. The provider descriptions below can help you choose candidates for your own comparison. [1][2][3][4][5][6]

## Narrow the model choices

- GPT-6.1 Terra: OpenAI describes visual reasoning, computer use and everyday work. For GitHub's integration, see the [Terra in Copilot guide](/blog/use-terra-in-github-copilot). [1]
- Kimi K3.1 Pro: Kimi documents its model and API access, including `kimi-k3.1-pro` and a high-speed variant. Check the provider's current availability before choosing a deployment path. [2]
- Gemini 4 Argon: Google's documentation positions it for software engineering, mathematical and scientific reasoning, and multi-step agents. [3]
- Claude Haiku 5.5: Anthropic describes high-volume work such as summaries, classification and database queries, plus coding subagent work. [4]
- Grok 4.7: Its announcement focuses on coding and knowledge work, including longer tasks and checking its own results. [5]
- GLM-5.3-Flash: Z.ai describes visual feedback from interfaces and rendered output, alongside coding and document workflows. [6]

Use the same representative task when comparing candidates. Record whether the result is correct, how much revision it needs, and its actual usage cost.

## Separate the model from the client

OpenCode connects multiple providers through its provider configuration. Its documented connection command is: [7]

Choose the provider and follow its authentication instructions. OpenCode's documentation explicitly says Claude Pro/Max authentication through third-party plugins is prohibited by Anthropic. Use the supported API connection for that provider. [7]

A subscription and an API key are different billing arrangements. Check the provider's current terms and prices before connecting an account; the carousel's October snapshot should not set a spending budget today. [7]
