# Build a video with Claude Code and Remotion

> Start a Remotion project, time spoken words and prepare assets before rendering your video.

Remotion's coding-agent guide provides a project setup you can edit with Claude Code [1]. Plan the spoken line, visual and tool for each shot first, as in our VIDEO post. Approve that plan before generating the scenes.

## Start a Remotion project

The current Remotion guide uses these commands. It requires Node.js and a coding agent [1].

```bash
npx create-video --yes --blank my-video
cd my-video
npx remotion skills add
npm run dev
```

The first command creates a blank project in `my-video`. Open another terminal in that project to start Claude Code [1].

```bash
cd my-video
claude
```

## Get timestamps for spoken words

The faster-whisper README documents installation and word-level timestamps [2].

```bash
pip install faster-whisper
```

This combines its CPU model setup and word timestamp example. Replace `voice.wav` with your narration file [2].

```python
from faster_whisper import WhisperModel
model = WhisperModel("large-v3", device="cpu", compute_type="int8")
segments, _ = model.transcribe("voice.wav", word_timestamps=True)
for segment in segments:
    for word in segment.words:
        print("[%.2fs -> %.2fs] %s" % (word.start, word.end, word.word))
```

You should see timestamped words. The README notes that transcription happens when the segment generator is consumed, and loading a model by name downloads its files [2].

## Prepare a cutout when the scene needs one

For text placed behind a subject, rembg documents removing a local image's background. Use artwork you have permission to publish [3].

```bash
pip install "rembg[cpu,cli]"
rembg i in.png out.png
```

Inspect `out.png` before compositing it. Keep the original image so you can correct a poor mask.

## Apply the post's optional grade

The VIDEO setup guide uses this FFmpeg filter chain. The filters reference describes curves, saturation adjustment and vignette [5]. Use your rendered video as `in.mp4` and a new destination filename.

```bash
ffmpeg -i in.mp4 -vf "curves=master='0/0.05 0.5/0.48 0.85/0.80 1/0.92',eq=saturation=0.85,vignette=angle=PI/5" out.mp4
```

Check caption timing and readability on the final export. Remotion's license FAQ permits free use for individuals and teams of up to three people; check the current terms for your organization before commercial production [4].
